Enrollment for classes at the Wichita Center for the Arts is going to be up soon. Join me in a class:

Multi Media Collage and Assemblage (Ages 14 – Adults) Thursdays 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. January 20 – April 14, 2011

This class will use a variety of mediums and techniques, from photo transferring, deconstructing text and image, found objects, recycled materials, fabric, paper, sewing, beads, adhesives and wax resist. We will be working on altered Books to Sacred Shrines, Found Object Assemblage to Mixed Media Collage. This is the place to experiment with new mediums!  Each day includes project demonstrations and discussions, sketch reviews and large blocks of creative time for individual work. We engage in ongoing problem solving with techniques and suggestions offered by the instructor. This class includes open studio on Fridays from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Studio 3

Encaustic: Colored Wax Painting (Ages 14 – Adults)Wednesdays 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. January 19 – April 13, 2011

Encaustic painting is the art of using beeswax mixed with colored pigments and resin. The results are like no other medium—mysterious, deep, and translucent, with a glow that seems to emanate from within. No experience is necessary to get started! Learn techniques involving collage, painting, scraping, and layering using wax in an assortment of vivid colors. This class includes open studio on Fridays from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Studio 3
